Brim blocks |
| Turned down brims are generally made on brim blocks with a solid centre, onto which a collar can be fitted - see Accessories. Turned up brims are usually made on blocks with hollow centres.
As with our crown blocks, brim blocks are available in oval or circular forms and the ovals can be slim or broad. See choosing your blocks for a full explanation. All sizes are available, from child to large adult. Stand holes (25mm) and collar fixings are provided in solid centre blocks. All our blocks are hand finished and sealed and will have a long life if used and stored with the care that high quality timber products deserve. Helpful hints are included with all blocks. |

| Blocks for turned down brims |

| We offer a wide range of designs and sizes for these blocks. The larger diameters offer greater flexibility for cutting the outline of the brim to any desired shape. All turned down brim blocks are fitted with threaded fasteners for securely attaching one of our collars. |

The crown position on these blocks can be offset from the centre for a small extra charge. Please give the offset measurement you require.

| These brim blocks all have the same diameter and curvature on the slope. The varying depth provides a range of slopes. Smaller brims can be blocked on these designs without having to use a smaller block. Many interesting shapes can be obtained by cutting the brims after blocking. |

| These brim blocks all have the same slope and edge curvature so the depth varies with the diameter. On this design a smaller block will be required for a smaller brim if you wish to keep the small edge. |

| Double blocks for turned down brims |
| |
Many of the above designs for turned down brims can be combined into double blocks. Here are some of our popular combinations. The large size of these blocks will allow you to trim the blocked brim to a variety of shapes to give a huge number of different designs. All have circular outlines and collar fastenings top and bottom.
A BB16 or BB17 together with a Multiblock set makes an ideal combination if you are just starting in millinery and want as much as possible on a limited budget. |

| A classic trilby style. The back sweeps up and the front sweeps down. Ideal for the trilby crown CB15. A generous width allows you to trim smaller if preferred.

Blocking in one means that only one piece of felt is used to create the crown and brim together. First the crown is blocked with a felt hood after which it is turned upside down and pushed through the brim block. The felt can is then pulled down and pinned to form the brim. When ordering, choose a brim size that is 3/4 inch bigger than the crown. |

| The possibilities of combining single blocks for turned up brims into doubles are more limited than those for turned down brims. However, we have combined the styles for four of our designs to offer you an economic way of increasing your collection. |

| Ring blocks |
| |
| Ring blocks can be used to block separate brims, which can then be cut to a wide variety of shapes, from bowler to Breton. It is also possible to block a one-piece hat by first blocking the crown on, say, a CB2 bowler block, putting the ring block over the blocked crown, supporting it at the required height near the bottom and blocking the brim over the ring in one piece with the crown. If you intend to use a ring in this way, order one that is three quarters of an inch bigger than the crown to allow for up to 3mm thickness of fabric. Please note that our ring blocks may not fit over crown blocks made by other manufacturers. |
